All of suddern, I wondered why Italian people are so skinny and fit even though they eat spaghetti, pizza and gelato for desert?
I dont think many Italians suffer from obesity. I guess there are some Italian tricks that they use to keep themselves in shape.
The following are Italian secrets of how some Italian people don't become fat according to my observations:
- They Eat Smart
Italian people DO NOT eat fatty pizza and carbonara spaghetti everyday. They are very smart about what they eat. They eat fruits( banana, apple, grapes etc) for breakfast and they eat salad for lunch and they might eat pizza and pasta for dinner with family and friends. They do not indulge themselves with eating Tiramisu every single day. They really know how and when to enjoy big meals.
Wait a sec, I am not trying to be anti-American here. (I'm still loving it!) But honestly I don't see so many Macdonalds in Italy. I remember when I was in America, so many people get free refills and they don't notice how much sugar they are getting from sodas. Free refills don't exist in Europe. If you want a second one, you have to buy one. I guess this really helps them control their calories.
3. They Drink Coffee
Italian people are so proud of their coffee, that they did not cooperate with Starbucks. Their coffee is so strong that it helps digestion a lot.(At least it does for me) Italian people drink espresso like three times a day. I am assuming that this has something to do with their weight control.
What I also noticed was Italian people are obsessed about looking beautiful. They are surrounded by magnificent edifices and living in a historically significant atomosphere. Plus, people live under the pressure of the stereotype of being beautiful.This is my theory but I am gussing these environements made them want to look smart and they want to harmonize their environment with their self-image.
Italy is beautiful but it was not built in a day.
